The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic Tabletop Role-Playing Game
The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a tabletop role-playing experience. A collaboration has been formed to develop a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic setting. The project has been announced, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.
"This endeavor will bring the series' unique suspense, tactical intensity, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," states an announcement.
Initial offerings will include a starter set, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, miniatures, and several deluxe editions.
Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this setting, a deadly virus known as Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, plunging the nation into turmoil. As the pandemic worsens, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. That’s where the agents come in.
Development on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader market, specifically in the United States. Production will start immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping expected for the latter part of 2026.
A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
A preview at the system confirms it uses 10-sided dice exclusively through its new GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and tactical approach. Players use abilities to assemble small dice pools, usually from one to five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the pool.
- This die is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a perfect 10 grants special effects, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Combat Emphasize Tactical Placement and Awareness
Fights prioritize placement and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like cover, elevation, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This mechanic seems built to reward teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.
A Thematic Wound System
The way injuries is managed adds a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by lowering the size of their dice pool.
- At zero health, an agent is downed, but is not unconscious.
- They may still move and perform restricted acts, simulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
- Any agent knocked down must consult a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.
An Introductory Adventure
A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It contains a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this scenario, the group spearhead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an assault by the notorious Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
